Goldbelt was Proud to Help Sponsor Gold Medal
Goldbelt was a proud sponsor of the Gold Medal Basketball Tournament, which took place March 23 - 29. This sponsorship reflects our commitment to bringing together Southeast communities. The Gold Medal Tournament dates to 1947 when the Juneau Lions Club decided to hold a fundraiser for the Boy Scouts that brought together teams from throughout Southeast Alaska. The tournament has grown into a week-long event that transcends the sport. It attracts former high school stars, college players, and local legends, some of whom travel from the Lower 48 or take leave from the military to participate. For more than 75 years, it has become a beloved Juneau social and cultural event, reuniting families and bringing everyone together to celebrate the arrival of spring
Goldbelt had a sponsor table where we greeted shareholders and helped them take care of any outstanding business. There were opportunities to apply for summer jobs, or puruse for Goldbelt careers, gift a share, apply for scholarships, or just have a snack and say hello.
There was also an opportunity to name Goldbelt’s new Catamaran. Goldbelt Transportation is expanding our fleet and we want your help to name the boat! Our newest catamaran will support Alaska Marine Highway System transportation, whale watching, and charters—continuing our mission to provide creative transportation solutions for shareholders and the community. Submissions will be reviewed by the board of directors, and the winner will receive $250. You may enter as many times as you like, but you must be a shareholder or descendant to win. Submit your suggestion by April 18 at 5 p.m. AKST.
A big shout out and congratulations to shareholder and Goldbelt Tram financial analysis Kaleb Tompkins (pictured above) for winning the tournament’s Open Bracket Most Valuable Player.
