FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Will these funds count towards my SSI (Social Security Income) eligibility?
No, the government will not count Economic Impact Payments, including the CARES Act relief funding, against your SSI assistance or payment amount eligibility. For further information, please click here: https://best.ssa.gov/coronavirus/categories/economic-impact-payments/
When are the first payments being released for eligible applicants?
Goldbelt will release the second-round payments of up to $800 to approved applicants on Friday, November 5, 2021. Shareholders may expect checks and direct deposits to arrive within 3-5 business days, depending on their bank's receiving process. Following the first round of reimbursements, Goldbelt will process applications on a bi-weekly basis.
How will I know if I am approved?
There are three eligibility requirements:
1) Applicants must be U.S. citizens.
2) Applicants must be Goldbelt shareholders as of October 12, 2021.
3) Applicants must certify financial loss, necessary expenses incurred, and/or emergency economic need due to the COVID-19 pandemic (must not be duplicated expenses from round one application)
Applicants certify their citizenship and financial loss directly on the application. The Goldbelt CARES Team verifies your shareholder status.
How much will I receive?
Approved applicants will be reimbursed for the amount they can certify as related to COVID-19 expense(s). For example, if you list “$700” in the “Amount of Reimbursement/Assistance Required:” field, you will receive $700. The maximum a shareholder may receive is $800 per person.
I'm on restricted income benefit programs. Will these Federal CARES Act funds impact my benefits?
The Federal CARES Act funds are not taxable income and come from economic relief programs; therefore, they should not be counted against you. These funds will not impact Social Security benefits.
What If I received CARES Act Funding from another source?
You can still apply for Goldbelt’s Federal Tribal Organization CARES Act relief program if your need exceeds the amount of funding that you received from other sources. For example, if you received reimbursement for remote educational costs through Tlingit and Haida but you also had other expenses, you can apply for these funds through the paper or online application. You may not use funds from other sources for the same expense.
I made a mistake on my application. How can I fix it?
Please do not submit another application, as it adds to the processing time. Simply email GBCARES@goldbelt.com with your updated information.
Do I need to provide receipts or proof of COVID-19-related expenses with this application?
No, it is not necessary to provide receipts with the application. However, you will need to complete all certifications to be eligible for the needs-based funding. Be sure to check all five boxes on the form and the minor certification if you are applying for a minor shareholder.
How do I know if my application went through?
After submitting your online application, you should see a confirmation page on your screen. This serves as your primary verification.
How long is the application?
The online application takes five to ten minutes to complete.
When is the application deadline?
The application deadline is December 3, 2021, at 5:00 pm. All mailed applications must be postmarked by November 29, 2021.
