Goldbelt, Inc. Welcomes M/V Goldbelt Seawolf

September 29, 2019 (JUNEAU, Alaska) – Shareholders and the Board of Directors of Goldbelt, Inc. welcomed a new vessel, christened the Goldbelt Seawolf, to the Goldbelt Transportation fleet on Sunday. The vessel was built in Homer, Alaska by BayWeld Boats and launched into Kachemak Bay by Anchorage-based Alaska Crane. The Goldbelt Seawolf’s primary objective is to provide transportation for miners to the Coeur Alaska Kensington Mine from Juneau, although Goldbelt Transportation may explore other business opportunities in the future with its newly expanded fleet.

“We’re thrilled to continue to grow our operations,” said Captain Clint Songer, Goldbelt Transportation manager. “We had a great experience working with Eric and the rest of the team at BayWeld throughout this process. We’re incredibly proud to say that our new vessel was made in Alaska, by Alaskans, for Alaskans, and will continue to be operated by a local crew.”

The Goldbelt Seawolf docked at the Seadrome Marina on Saturday evening and was blessed by elder Ed Kunz in a ceremony early Sunday morning. Goldbelt hosted 250 shareholders and honored guests in three ceremonial “maiden voyage” cruises throughout the day on Sunday.

“The Coeur Alaska Kensington Mine is excited for the Goldbelt Seawolf to begin service to the mine site,” said Mark Kiessling, General Manager, Coeur Alaska - Kensington Mine. “The larger size and upgrades will make the trip to and from the mine much more enjoyable for our hardworking miners.”

The Goldbelt Seawolf will begin sailing for Goldbelt Transportation on October 1.
